Artists Bio
Living in the small King Country settlement of Piopio provides me with rich visual and personal influences.
I work primarily as a contemporary realist but more recently I have begun to add another layer of interest into my compositions – that of humour! Using native birds and animals as both object and subject enables me to voice my interest in the idiosyncratic and distinctive world we live in. The characters I feel best able to represent, the fun there is to be had with language, symbolism and entrenched beliefs are all present in my current body of work.
My choice of medium is acrylic on boxed plywood board or canvas.
I exhibit in galleries throughout NZ and my work is held in private collections both here and internationally.
